Third Grade is learning many new things!
In Reading, students are learning about the central message of a story. We are reading The Legend of Damon and Pythias and retelling the key details to explain how the story conveys its message.
In Math, students are multiplying and dividing with 2s, 5s, 9s, and 10s. They are building their fluency and are looking forward to practicing with their flashcards!
In Writing, students are writing opinion pieces. They are learning about the writing process as they create graphic organizers, draft, revise, and edit. Also, through peer conferencing, students are able to tell their classmates what they liked about the piece and offer suggestions to improve upon it.
In Social Studies, students just completed group presentations on the four California Regions. They used various sources to gather information and practice their note taking skills. Then students worked cooperatively to create a region poster.
In Science, students are using the Scientific Method to answer their questions and perform experiments. Currently, students are watching groups of plants grow outside, on the windowsill, and in a dark closet. Which plant will grow the fastest? Day 6 revealed something interesting. One of the plants on the windowsill and in the dark closet began to grow! None of the outside plants grew! Students are looking forward to the days ahead!
In Religion, students are learning about Jesus’ teachings about God’s love for us and the gift of Faith. What a gift we have been given!
Third Grade is working hard and playing hard! It’s going to be a great year!
