October 2019

October, the month of the Rosary, has started strong with the 3rd Grade students praying a decade of the Rosary each day in class.  We are thanking Mary for her continuous protection over the Church.  We are also dedicating this special prayer to those in need whether it be a family member, a friend, or even a stranger.

The 3rd Grade students recently came together with their 6th Grade buddies for our monthly Kiva lesson.  We lent money to a man by the name of Florien who lives in Rwanda. His loan will help him purchase a van that will enable him to transport clean drinking water to members of his community.  In keeping with the Rosary, students made decade Rosaries that will be given to Mary Star of the Sea Church for Holy Rosary Sunday.  We ended our lesson praying for Florien and those less fortunate.  May God Bless them all.

Students will begin researching a saint of their choice this month for their Saint Report.  It will be their first Informative piece of writing of the year!  Students are looking forward to the research process and sharing out facts that their classmates may have never known before.  Before we know it, All Saints Day will be here and their new found knowledge will help them better understand what it took for these men and woman to receive this holy title.
