Happy New Year!!!

As 2021 came to an end, 3rd Grade was able to participate in many wonderful activities to close the year out.  For instance, when the Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima visited Mary Star of the Sea Church, students attended the rosary and prayed under Mary’s veil.  It was a special day!

After concluding our studies of Animal Adaptations in Science, 3rd Grade headed out on their first field trip of the year to Indian Hills Camp.  The classes taken that day supported their studies on how adaptations help an animal survive in its environment.  The amazing playground was also a favorite of the students!

3rd Grade is enjoying monthly art literacy lessons.  Recently, students learned about the aboriginal people and a special dot painting technique. They applied the dot painting onto their very own boomerangs!

A spectacular St. Michael the Archangel statue has been placed outside Mary Star of the Sea Church.  3rd Grade went to visit the statue and a student who studied St. Michael for his saint report shared some facts about his life. We prayed together asking for continued protection.  Our beloved saints were also recognized through a procession around the village and a special All School Mass.

In celebration of SMA’s 75 Years, a Kind Acts Challenge went into effect!  3rd Grade accepted the challenge and got right to work!  Students read to the TK students, placed homemade virtue rocks around campus, and made a generous donation to Father Joe’s Villages.  Kind Acts will continue to be done throughout the new year!

The SMA Christmas Pageant was a success!  Traditional Christmas songs that we all know and love were sang beautifully by our SMA students.  A special visit by St. Nicholas topped the night off as he knelt before Baby Jesus in the manger, the true focus of the Christmas Season.

3rd Grade wishes you a Happy New Year!!!  May we continue to share with those less fortunate as we have been blessed with so much.
